Attending Middle School Sporting Events

Thank you for supporting Lange athletes and coming out to cheer them on!

CPS Policies for Sports Spectators

On the day of the game, students who are Absent, in ISS, or are suspended CANNOT attend games. This is the policy for ALL Columbia Public Schools events (Middle or High School). The entrance gate will have your information.

School rules apply at all after school events.

Entry fees:

  • $4 for Adults
  • $3 for Students

Students may come to games in the Lange Middle School gym without a parent; however students must have a ride within 10 minutes of the game ending, or they will not be eligible to attend after-school activities again this season.

Students need to have a parent/guardian stay with them if you attend a game at another school/venue (any game not held in the Lange Middle School gym).

Students need to sit in the student section in the bleachers nearest the entrance above the cheer team. If you are seen without a guardian you will be asked to call them to be picked up, and you will be put on the not-able-to-attend-events list. If your guardian is sitting in the bleachers or even in the Press Box, then that is where you have to be too. We are guests at all of these other venues. That means we have to make sure we respect everyone, including abiding by all the rules. Also spectators at football games or tracks meets are not allowed on the field or the track at any time.

Spectators must abide by the Safe, Respectful, and Responsible matrix, and practice good sportsmanship. This includes:

  • No booing, name calling, yelling, or talking back to players, coaches, or officials
  • Do not approach the team benches or score-table
  • Stay in your seats unless the game is between quarters, or during half-time.

CPS Policies for Attending Football Games

Per district procedure, any student (including siblings at other schools) that attend a football game must be accompanied by a guardian. This procedure is in place due to the nature of the facilities used for football contests and limited numbers of supervisors. We appreciate your partnership and help with the supervision of students during football games. Due to past student and spectator situations at athletic events, the following measures are put in place:

1. If a student is not accompanied by a guardian, they will be turned around at the gate. Please do not drop off your student for the game.

2. Students remain in the stands during the game, and visit the concession stand or restroom during half time or between games only.

3. Administrators at the game reserve the right to ask fans to leave at any time if their behavior becomes disrespectful or inappropriate. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Fighting
  • Yelling at officials/coaches
  • Not following directions of supervisors
  • Inappropriate language

4. If students or spectators are not following expectations, they will be asked to leave and will no longer be allowed to attend football games for CPS middle schools.

We realize these may seem strict, but are necessary to ensure the safety of everyone at the event.
